Orien Server DDO guilds looking to recruit   Leave a comment

mmoguildreport

The guild report is back! Well, now that Massively has focused on helping players hook up with guilds, it seems they are mostly focusing on Final Fantasy XIV, which makes sense since a lot of people are playing that game now. In fact, I would venture to say it is the surprise mmorpg hit of 2013. Nevertheless, there are other mmos out there and people still playing them aren’t there?

This week we focus on DDO.

We still play DDO from time to time, especially nowadays when we have little time to invest in a hard-core mmo like wow. Therefore, we will start with the Orien server because that’s the server we have a few characters in.

According to the forums, If you’re looking for a guild where you can be relaxed, learn and enjoy the game, Supremacy is the place for you! It is currently a level 41…

Luna Zhiri- My Last Cosplay of 2013   Leave a comment

Frekki's Cosplay Blog

This character is a combination of my favorite aspects of Dungeons and Dragons. She’s my favorite race, tiefling, and she’s a healer- my favorite role to play. I used the Neverwinter MMO character builder armor as her outfit.

Some of my followers may remember this costume from a contest I entered with it at LBCC. Until then it was kept in storage and brought out just for this photoshoot. Unfortunately it wasn’t returned to storage right away and it spent an unusually hot day in the car. The heat melted a good portion of the wonderflex armor and effectively ruined the costume shortly after the shoot. I haven’t tried to repair it yet, but as of now this costume is retired.

Hump Day Post: Uluru   Leave a comment

Retired2Travel

Uluru used to be known as Ayers Rock and has now been gazetted as Uluru / Ayers Rock It’s a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia. It’s one of Australia‘s most recognisable natural landmarks. Uluru stands 348 m (1,142 ft) high, rising 863 m (2,831 ft) above sea level, with most of its bulk lying underground, and has a total circumference of 9.4 km (5.8 mi). I’ve walked around it and was sorry I started it half way through – only because I started the walk too late and then had no shade at all as the sun was directly overhead. Walking that distance in what ended up being in the middle of the day in 36 degrees heat was not a good idea. My tip would be, if you’re interested in walking around it – start early and I mean early!

It’s an…

Statue of Liberty | New York, USA   Leave a comment

Trip & Travel News

The hallmark of New York city is the Statue of Liberty, which dominates the entrance of the harbor area and depicts the Liberty as a female, commanding figure holding a lit torch. She was placed in the small island Liberty and has a height of 46.5 meters, which is doubled because of the delicate base. The statue weighs 225 tons and is covered by copper clad. The base hosts since 1972 the Immigration Museum.

The idea of the building belongs to the French historian Edouard de Lampoule, who proposed to build a monument that would commemorate the Franco-German friendship. Inspired bust statue from the form of luminophores Apollo, while yhe base is based on historical reports on the construction of the Colossus of Rhodes.

The skilled sculptor Frederic Bartholdi began construction in 1874 in Paris and the statistical structure was studied by Gustavo Eiffel

Based on True Gossip, and Other Issues with Historical Drama and Biopics   Leave a comment

The Afictionado

“Based on a true story” is a very slippery turn of phrase. I find I’m always wary when I see it, sidling up to any book, film or hip new series toting the words with my eyes narrowed, no matter how much they promise to give me an insight into the life of a great artist or public figure or make history cool and fun and bring it to the Kids of Today (ugh).

Not to say, of course, that I’m a villainous and harsh critic of all biopics, because a lot of them have won awards, gained huge fan followings and been generally accredited to be good pieces of art. But as to how much that art imitates life, well, that you have to take with a grain of salt.

At least most of them have the sense to say “inspired by” true events, because that’s closer to the…
